Seems like only yesterday that the we were discussing the rising level of a fear surrounding the avian flu outbreak and its importance. Actually, it was yesterday. It took all of a day for these headlines to rise to the top of the Drudge Report. "The panic has been so great that the number of requests for vaccines to be sent to regions has begun to grow in geometric progression," says Russia's head of veterinary control. It stretches to drive-time radio where we heard a popular right wing radio commentator warn of the devastation the disease could have on the global economy as victims and healthy avian-phobes are separated. One unfortuante side effect is that it will probably get the blame for economic and financial collapse. If you've been following along, in The Elliott Wave Theorist, The Elliott Wave Financial Forecast and other EWI publications, however, you know the score. Disease didn't cause the bear market; the bear market creates conditions that favorable to the disease, its spread and, most importantly, the emotional turmoil that surrounds it. |
