The polls are bad enough. Now the President fails a word-assocation test.

Over the last seven years, the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press has played a game of word association as part of its regular presidential polling, asking, "What one word best describes your impression of George W. Bush?" No options or suggestions are offered. The latest results - from a sample of 710 people done in March - aren't good for the President. Until this month, the word most associated with President Bush had always been "honest." Now the leading answer is "incompetent" (given by 29 people), followed by "good," "idiot" and "liar." "Honest" has slipped to 5th, tied with "Christian."

Bush the "Incompetent"
Category: POLITICS
By: Pete Kendall, March 21, 2006

What will they be calling him at the bottom of wave three?

--Ryan Gordon

“Incompetent” is pretty negative, so there’s no telling except it probably won’t be printable. According to some polls, Bush popularity just broke to a new all-time low. This suggests that stocks are likely to follow the President down rather than pull his popularity up to the high ground they’ve been clinging to in recent months.  The relationships between the President’s image and the trend in stock prices has been discussed in greater length in past issues and the Sociotimes post of February 6.
