Fashion Takes A Detour From Whimsy
Category: FASHION
By: Pete Kendall, October 21, 2005

The front pages of these Dallas fashion mags display the darker, less revealing cutting edge of fashion discussed in SocioTimes fall fashion review. One illuminating aspect is the contrast between the "new severe elegance" and the "Miss Congenialities" inside. The very serious countenances and the covered face of the neo-Victorian woman above is certainly at  at odds with the smiling socialites that fill the pages of both issues. Virutally all of the ladies at Dallas' latest "Drop Dead Gorgeous Girl Fest," for instance, flash plenty of flesh and floral patterns with bright, bubble-gum colors. As in the stock market, the bear market in fashion has a long way to go.
